MISS JANUARY 2007 LEIGH JACOBS
Leigh Jacobs has all the traits of a great Scream Queen and then some. She’s not only a doll, willing to show some skin and place her self in compromising situations, but she can also act and help transcend a no-budget movie like “Transformed” into something special. The new face at Siren Tales Productions has been called an “innocent beauty” that possesses “natural talent and wholesomeness.” Besides playing a man in a woman’s body in “Transformed,” Leigh has also appeared in “Operation Storm Cloud” and will be in the upcoming release “The Cartel.” Leigh talks about growing up as a geeky “Star Wars” tomboy, her background and possible future in acting, being naked, Johnny Depp and breaking someone’s nose with a baseball bat as the first Polly Pinup of 2007. FIRECRACKERCCF: First off, I was extremely impressed with you in “Transformed.” I really like that movie and think partly what really makes it work is you. Tell me a bit about your background. I know you’ve been in a couple other of Pamela Sutch’s films, but besides that have you done much acting? LJ: Thanks, Chad. I guess I have been acting for quite some time. Like most of my fellow actors I started in high school, with plays and musicals. My big debut on film was Pam Sutch’s movie, where I really got to flex my acting muscles. I think my favorite part was the silent acting, which not only can be the most challenging, but difficult as well. You don’t have dialogue to fall back on, and facial expressions are key. CCF: That’s actually where you were at your best. You managed to convey quite a lot with your facial expressions… How did you gear up for the “Transformed” role of a man in a woman’s body? LJ: It actually wasn’t that difficult. I just tapped into my inner tomboy and went with that. I don’t think I wore a dress until prom night!
CCF: Tomboy, eh? I wouldn’t have guessed it. Did you grow up with a lot of brothers? What kind of stuff did you get into as a kid? Were you into football, bikes, frogs any of that stuff or what? LJ: I actually grew up with just my mom and my sister, and the two of us were into all types of sports: tennis, softball, swimming... I even tried to be on the bowling team! Okay, now I’m just sounding more like a geek than a tomboy! CCF: (LOL) LJ: I definitely preferred “G.I. Joe” and “Star Wars” over girlie stuff. A childhood friend and I used to have wars between the two sets of action figures and, of course, “Star Wars” always won. CCF: Yeah, well, that’s not even a fair fight. The Force and the Dark Side teaming up to whoop regular army guys. (LOL) At least when my brother and I would play with “Star Wars” action figures we’d mix it up with “The Dukes of Hazzard” and Mork from Ork. So Darth Vader would be driving the General Lee with Bo Duke riding shotgun and Mork would be up in the Millennium Falcon with Luke Duke and Han Solo…. Ok, I’m getting sidetracked here… You said you were into a lot of different sports. Any good childhood sports stories you can share? LJ: I remember being one of the worst batters on my softball team. One summer, I was up at bat and I swung as hard as I could, hitting what appeared to be a home run. I ran to first base, but lo and behold, everyone else was running the other way, toward home. I looked back to see that I had launched my bat square into a teammate’s nose and broke it! There was blood everywhere! Luckily, years after, we ran into each other and she forgave me. After all, I was only 11. CCF: (LOL) Oh man… Getting back to acting, do you have any long term goals to become a scream queen along the lines of Debbie Rochon, Pamela Sutch or Misty Mundae? LJ: I would love to be considered among them as a woman who has made a difference in the B-movie genre. Their acting ability and willingness to get into compromising situations for the benefit of the viewers is inspiring. I hope to work with Pam as long as she’ll have me and maybe branch out into other projects.
CCF: Well, keep it going because I definitely see a good future ahead of you… Your day job though is actually working at an animal hospital, right? What do you do exactly? Is it like Angela Bettis in “May”? All blood and guts? LJ: Yes, I work as a Veterinary Technician at a large animal hospital in New Jersey. But, alas, it is not very bloody at all. In fact, it’s all about pleasing the client, and it keeps me busy! I would like to think that the relationship with my clients is much like the one I share with my viewers...entertaining, yet educational. CCF: And you are married to Matt Jacobs, who also is a Siren Tales regular. How long have you two been together as a couple? LJ: Matt and I met in 1999, both of us were sculpture students. He from Ramapo College, me at Buffalo State. We had a huge symposium, and met over molten iron. How romantic! He had a girlfriend at the time, but about six months after, he finally woke up and realized that I was the one for him. I moved to Jersey in 2000, and we married in August 2004. CCF: What’s it like on the set with your husband? Does he ever get a little jealous or crazy in any way when you do nude scenes and things like that? LJ: No, he is actually very proud of me and glad that I can share my body in an artistic way. Personally, I think he might have a slight tendency toward voyeurism! I used to be an artist’s model to help pay my way through college, which was all nude. CCF: What’s your personal take on nudity in films and what was it like the first time you had one of those scenes? LJ: I am very comfortable being nude and it’s not only because I am athletic. Matt and I both appreciate the human form, especially the subtle curves. Females, especially, are an art form, for risk of sounding narcissistic. CCF: I read you and Matt are planning to start a family and you are going to try for four kids in a row. Is that right? LJ: Well, I want to have as many kids as we can afford, and as many as my little body can handle. But, I think I will wait until a lull in the movie business. Plus, I am still young.
CCF: And you’re a fan of Johnny Depp - his movies or just his looks? LJ: I love his acting ability, and the many different roles he is able to play effectively. From “Edward Scissorhands” to “Secret Window,” I can’t see a more versatile actor. And, of course, he is very attractive. CCF: Lastly, if you somehow switched bodies with Johnny Depp, would you rather A.) Matt stayed in his current body or B.) Matt switched into yours, so he would be able to carry your babies? LJ: I think maybe Matt should answer this question. I would forego the babies and stay with the sex. His wife is pretty hot too... maybe an orgy? CCF: All right, well, thanks for your time. Keep up the hard work. Hopefully you don’t have any roles swinging baseball bats in your future. (LOL) Seriously though, I’m looking forward to seeing your future projects and wish you the best of luck with your career. - CCF, January 2007 |
