BLOOD BROTHERS II

No, the PCP Boys are not a new boy band.

CCF: (LOL) What keeps you doing these things and what’s like the best part? Is it the adrenaline rush of the stunt itself? Is it the bragging rights? Is it watching the tape later and feeling, “Oh my, I can’t believe I actually did that”? Or what exactly?

MG: I do it all for the adrenaline rush! I can’t describe in words the feeling I get from performing a stunt where my body or even life is put on the line.

RG: The same. Pure adrenaline baby! Filming is just a bonus, but it is important to get a good shot.

CCF: Speaking of that, one of you said on the DVD in the special features that a problem you’ve ran into in the past was getting good camera operators. Any specific stories you can share on some stunt somebody was supposed to be filming and didn’t for whatever reason?

MG: Yeah, Ry jumped over a car with a BMX bike into a tree and our camera guy completely missed it and his excuse was, “You didn’t tell me you were going.” God damn it! Those shooters need to be ready constantly.

RG: Yeah, we get a lot of camera problems. Not enough views, not enough tape, dead batteries, unprepared operators. The time I jumped a bike over a car, flew through the air and landed in a tree was the worst. It was a dangerous stunt that took a lot of preparation. Anyway, Evan Hart got too excited and never hit the record button, but lucky for him I’m crazy as hell, so I did it twice.

Ryan Gaboff - the lost footage.

CCF: Also, on “Hella Crazy,” was that one of you guys trying to jump the bike on to the roof of a house and slamming into the front of the porch? Something like that, was it planned to purposely screw the jump up for comedic reasons knowing it would be on the DVD?

MG: That was my brother and no he actually thought he could make it. Idiot!

CCF: (LOL)

RG: Yeah, that was me. I didn’t plan on crashing, but I knew it was a good possibility considering I suck at BMX. I said, “Fuck it! I’ll do it anyway and at least I’ll get some good crash footage if I don’t make it.”

CCF: That was probably my second favorite moment in the DVD. I like the fact you guys left screw ups like that in. That one plays really well for laughs, which one of the things that I noticed that kind of separates you guys from some other similar productions is it feels like you are having a good time. Your DVD has this party vibe to it. There’s not really any mean spiritedness. Even when you guys are like bashing yourselves in the heads with beer bottles and one guy’s head is gushing blood, he’s laughing it up. Is this due to some heavy drugs or what exactly?

MG: (LOL) That was actually my head that got cut open! That was funny because we did it like two hours before that and used fake blood to better the film, than we reshot it and this time I didn’t need the fake blood. I got a kick out of the fact I had real blood pouring from my head.

RG: Surprisingly we do not do drugs and if we think someone’s seriously hurt we’ll do whatever it takes to help. Other than that, it’s all about having a good time.

CCF: What’s your take on the whole movement of kids taking video cameras outdoors and shooting themselves doing crazy things? It just seems to be getting bigger and bigger.

MG: I feel like it is becoming a sport right now without a name.

RG: It is really. And I encourage it. The more people that go out and film crazy shit, the bigger it becomes.

CCF: What’s your reaction to people that call you a “Jackass” copycat or an “Indecline” wannabe?

MG: “Jackass” had a lot to do with inspiring people to film stupidity on camera, even my brother and I. However, we do different stunts than them and we also like to focus more on the action sports scene so whoever says we are copycats, “Go fuck off!”

CCF: (LOL) What about you Ryan?

RG: Fuck that. I have nothing against “Jackass,” “The Dudesons,” etc. They happen to be a big inspiration of mine but that doesn’t mean we “copy” them. I’m sure there’s many people all over world that have been doing shit like that for years before “Jackass” was ever even thought of. They just took it to the next level by putting a name on it and producing a TV show for it.

CCF: The level Johnny Knoxville, Bam and Steve-O have reached as far as fame, is that something you guys hope to achieve?

MG: Just as long as I am entertaining my viewers and getting paid for it than I am happy. I don’t care about the fame.

RG: Whatever happens happens.

CCF: That’s probably the best way to look at it. You know, keeps you grounded. How did you guys get the sponsors that you have?

MG: I have some connections, plus I really know how to kiss ass in a meeting.

RG: We contacted some of them. Some of them contacted us. But either way it helps to know some people.

CCF: Who do you have sponsoring you right now?

MG Xtreme Machines bike shop, Ecko, AFM club, Dirt Star designs and I’ve been negotiating with Rockstar Energy Drink. Who knows? Maybe you guys in the future!

Mike and Bob on fire.

CCF: (LOL) What’s the affiliation with Slick Chix?

RG: Mike works for that company. I’ll just occasionally go to shows to help out.

MG: Yeah, I am a producer and videographer for them. I figured it would spice up “Hella Crazy” a little bit for all of our male viewers.

CCF: What’s the Slick Chix job like Mike? You basically get paid to film hot women rolling around with each other covered in oil?

MG: Yeah! (LOL) It’s crazy how I got the job. I just randomly got this phone call and was asked on the spot if I would like to be a partner in the oil wrestling business. So far, I’ve released four DVDs from SlickChix.com and I am now pitching this idea for SPIKE TV.

CCF: Cool, well good luck with that and I’ve got a last question for you. How soon till the next PCP Boys DVD and is there anything you can share with us about any planned stunts?

MG: We are looking at a September 2007 release for the second “Hella Crazy.” I like to surprise my fans with my stunts, but I’ll give you one. I am planning my second 250 motorcycle back flip attempt, except this time I will be completely in flames!

RG: I got a lot of sick stunts planned out but everyone’s gonna have to wait until they get the DVD to see it. I don’t want any posers taking my ideas.

CCF: Alright, well take care guys, keep up the work and try not to get killed out there.
